Northern Model

9/6/2018

Last weekend saw the car packed for the long journey up to the North East of England for the Northern Model Show. It's beyond my usual 2 hour radius but I make an exception for this excellent show.

I'll start with a general view of the show that is held in a large sports hall with good well balanced artificial lighting.

The show draws in SIGs and clubs from the north of England and Scotland so there is a slightly different mix of displays from shows elsewhere in England. There are also plenty of traders willing to take your hard earned cash.
Catering is a strong point for this show. Food is served throughout the day with plenty of hot and cold options. Tea and coffee is £1 and a hot dinner came in at £6.

Two displays of note was an excellent RAF 100 display and the debut of the Star Wars SIG
And finally onto some Luftwaffe models. The first set is from models in the competition. The superbly posed Eindecker was in the Junior category.
Best in show went to an excellent 1/32nd scale A6 Intruder.

The next gallery is of Luftwaffe models on display around the show. This included a rather impressive Luftwaffe '46 display.
Last, but by no means least is our own display. Members displaying models for this display were Andy Hardwick, Andrew Walker and Nathan Robinson. We also had Phil Flory's Transall and Me 262 making the journey up north. A number of models that are going to form part of the Lufttransportgeschwader SMW display also made their debut.
